Meet Skip Lackey –
Senior Trainer for The Journey Seminars North America

Skip made his living in the arts for over 25 years as a performer, singer, dancer, writer, director, producer, clown, and voice over artist. As a teenager, he graduated from Ringling Bros. Clown College and toured with the circus as a Clown.

He had the honor of studying acting, privately for 2 years with Sanford Meisner. He has acted in film, TV, Soap Operas and performed in musicals on Broadway and numerous road–touring companies. He is also a graduate of the Vancouver International Film School and is an award winning filmmaker. He has recorded over 1000 voice over's for radio and TV and has been in over 100 national commercials. He has worked as a TV Producer for ABC, ESPN and NBC. He is a member of SAG, AEA, AFTRA and AGVA. He now travels the US and Canada sharing his true passion – The Journey – helping people uncover and discover their infinite potential. Note from Skip: In 1985, my life and career were soaring... at age 22, I had just come off of performing on the road for 4 years, was consistently being cast in national commercials and had just filmed my first feature movie. I was in demand and on the verge of a very successful acting career in LA and NYC. When suddenly, my father, my only "rock" of support in a never–ending sea of rejection, my best friend, confidant and biggest fan, was killed in an airline disaster. His death sent me reeling – feeling completely lost, knocked off my center and disconnected from anything even the least bit creative. I was left questioning all aspects of my life, where I was going and what my purpose for being in this crazy business actually was. I had been completely driven and now... every move and every life–choice I was making was constantly filled with fear and doubt. I felt like I was just drifting through life in a haze.

I realized, at the deepest level, that I was not being driven by anything outside of myself but by something so much greater.

I made myself stop – and ask – "Who I am?... What drives me in pursuit of my dreams? Are these MY dreams? Had I been pursing my dreams for my father's approval? Why? How? Is this enough? Am I enough?" I realized, at the deepest level, that I was not being driven by anything outside of myself but by something so much greater. It wasn't about the audience or the accolades; it was simply about ...accessing personal truth, connection to others, the ability to "feel" deeply, and to experience all of life from that energetic "flow", from that internal "source". Connection, truth, integrity and the expression of those core values. So, from there, I found that I needed to re–define myself and re–discover a way to express what was REALLY important to me at my core.

I took a break from my acting career and spent 2 years studying with the only living master acting teacher alive – Sanford Meisner, I focused all of my creative ability toward being in truth. My acting career thrived. I was on Broadway. I became a game show host. I opened a restaurant. I had a movie that I had written produced. I stepped into a relationship. I had a life–changing event with the pre–mature birth of my son, and spent 6 months in a Neonatal Intensive care unit and witnessed a miracle in his successful fight for survival. I felt blessed.

I then graduated from film school after I found myself realizing that I wanted to switch my approach of expression from in front of the camera to behind the camera. Again, I felt connected, energized, in the flow and after the huge learning experience of writing/directing/producing my first feature film and feeling as if I had been re–born in a new career, once again feeling unstoppable and on the verge of success. Tragedy struck again – I felt sabotaged by another "death" the loss of the relationship with the mother of my 3–year old son. And at the same time, my "film" was ripped away from my control. I lost my sense of purpose again and the ensuing devastation knocked me to my knees. Why was this happening to me?? How could this happen again? Was the universe trying to tell me something? Teach me a lesson? OR... was I somehow co–creating this? Were the silent saboteurs of my past coming back to rip the "magic carpet of achievement" out from under me again?

It's just about pulling away the veils of uncertainty to recognize true greatness within.

This new series of "failures" left me stuck in a deep depression, lost and paralyzed. That pain ended up catapulting me into the "need" for closure and healing as I became hyper–aware of ALL my old pains. My heart and soul where left hungry to reconnect with myself and learn how to hold on to the truth of who I am, without losing it when confronted with life's turbulent moments. I felt like I was at the lowest point in my life.

It was then that I found The Journey, the most fulfilling work that I have ever had the honor of being a part of. After years of pursuing my passion in the "arts", I had the opportunity to recognize what had actually been motivating me for so long. I realized that I had always been drawn to performing because it allowed me to be connected to the "flow" of creativity. That flow of energy that some call "charisma"... that "internal magnet", the essence or "source" of true innate greatness... it was there... for me to access, express and expand upon.

Journeywork allowed me to open up and participate in a very deep personal transformation on my life and allowed me to share the path of possibility with others...in any given moment and not just from the front of a stage. I am now living a life of purpose, happiness and truth that is the embodiment of all that I have pursued, experienced, and been. I am now a complete and whole expression of all parts of me; open to all that life has to offer, effortlessly growing and expanding into every opportunity that comes my way, attracting abundance in so many forms and left feeling more energetic and alive then ever before. And this invitation is here for you...to access your innate potential, your truth and to live a life where all possibility comes flooding to you, from all directions.
